The name Kyanite is derived from kynos, the Greek word for blue.
Because of its particular characteristic of developing different hardness in different directions, it was also given the name disstenos, which means dual hardness. The Greeks felt Kyanite was the protective stone of sea faring men and it was given to those about to embark on a long journey.
The fast vibration of the stone quickly activates the higher chakras and the illumined mind, Useful for passing quickly into meditation or sleep, it helps open metaphysical gifts. It relaxes, drives away sadness and makes life seem more worth living. It connects you to your soul path and true vocation.
