The Color of Love
Self-love is important for everyone, but it is especially vital for people who are interested in spiritual development.
Many spiritual disciplines advocate the abandonment of self (known as ego), and while this may be the greatest liberation, any negative feeling is a kind of psychic glue which attaches us to that about which we feel negative. So it is with ourselves. When we don’t love ourselves fully, we are wounded inside, and a wound will always cry out to be healed. Rose quartz is an instrument of that healing.
Whether we’re talking about the wounded inner child, clearing up relationships from the past that continue to haunt, or issues of forgiveness, the experience and expression of love is the ultimate healing. From our childhood, we become experts, or failures, at learning what kind of behavior will call forth love from our parents and what will cause its withdrawal. Whether we succeed or fail, we decide that we get love based on what others think about us. When we come to that conclusion, we have learned to judge ourselves by the standards of others. The others, however, are interested in our behaving in a way that makes them feel good. Whether it makes us feel good is a secondary concern. Looking for love and satisfaction from the outside weakens our inner connection to the flow of love from the source that created us, love that is unconditional and unending. Rose quartz helps us return to that inner source.
How does this happen?
Quartz crystals, of which rose quartz is obviously one, demonstrate a unique phenomenon. There is an energy on the surface; there is energy inside; and also a synergy –an energy of the whole. The outside energy is electrical energy while the energy on the inside is a spiral energy. Both energies operating together make happen a third energy, a radiant energy. This synergy of the inside and the outside energy allow it to function all by itself. That is why just being in the presence of any quartz crystal can have an effect on you. However, it is the radiant energy coupled with its pinkish color that produces the healing (self loving) qualities of rose quartz.
To digress for a moment. The seven Chakras (energy centers) are affected by color. The heart Chakra, the center from which feelings of love including loving oneself emanate, is affected by red/rose/pink, the color of rose quartz. So, rose colored radiant energy emitted from the rose quartz, opens the heart Chakra dissipating negative emotions and enhancing the qualities associated with an open and balanced heart Chakra, i.e. love, happiness and joy.
You can hold a rose quartz in your hand, and while holding it, silently or out loud repeat an affirmation. The past is over; I am a stronger person now; I accept all that I am . You can also sleep with rose quartz beneath your pillow. The pain of the past may come up in dreams and you can more readily handle this if you affirm before you go to sleep that you are ready to release the past. You can write three things on a small piece of paper: Thank you; that which you desire; your name. Fold the paper inward and place at the base of the crystal. And, of course, you can wear rose quartz in any form you so desire. This helps in the slow and steady activation of its energies.
More than any other crystal, this colored quartz teaches that all emotional wounds can be healed, and that the source of love comes from within –knowledge enhanced by the properties of that magical mystical crystal – rose quartz.
In “The Nature of Personal Reality,” Seth, as channeled by the late Jane Roberts, says, “Affirmation is the acceptance of yourself in your present as the person that you are. Within that acceptance, you may find qualities that you wish you did not have, or habits that annoy you. You must not expect to be ‘perfect’….your ideas of perfection mean a state of fulfillment beyond which there is no future growth, and no such state exists.”
We can love ourselves unconditionally while accepting that we have some growing to do.
