“One picture is worth a thousand words.” In terms of Sedona’s vortexes, we now present living proof that this phenomenon actually exists.
An endless number of books, Web sites, brochures and tour guides proclaim the wonders of energy vortexes, an area of “invisible” swirling energy emanating from the earth and producing an uplifting, rejuvenating sensation in visitors. There are a number of vortexes in and around Sedona, but four take center stage: Airport Mesa, Bell Rock, Boynton Canyon and Cathedral Rock.
The vortex at Airport Mesa is situated half-way up the hill on the left hand side of the road. This vortex is said to be a masculine vortex –one that strengthens masculine or more assertive aspects of personality.
Cathedral Rock vortex, the most photographed vortex in Sedona, is known as the feminine vortex because the energy here strengthens those personality traits normally thought of as feminine in nature.
Vortex energy at Boynton Canyon is extensive, but it is strongest around a knoll accessed from ‘Vista Trail.’ This vortex strengthens the masculine/feminine or yin/yang balance.
Bell Rock vortex can easily be seen from State Route 179. The energy at this vortex is very powerful and strengthens the masculine and feminine aspects of personality as well as the balance between them.
The commonly held belief is that Sedona vortexes are spots of increased energy. Some people use terms such as ‘magnetic,’ ‘electrical’ or ‘electromagnetic’ to refer to this energy, while others say it’s psychic energy of some kind that explains why it can’t be measured or seen.
We’d like to show you the following pictures taken by Phaedra Hutsell, one of the vortex tour guides at the Center. This is the Cathedral Rock Vortex, one of the most famous in Sedona. These are untouched photos taken with a digital camera and put onto a disc by Walgreen’s. These are the actual photos. What do you see in this first photo?
The first photo clearly shows a picture of the vortex at Cathedral Rock despite the fact that it is not supposed to be seen.
The second picture was taken only a few seconds later when the swirling mass of vortex energy could no longer be seen.
Of course, these pictures are from Sedona, the capital of the magical, mystical New Age. But if you still doubt that vortexes do exist, why not come and see for yourself!
