When you realize that behavior motivated by consciousness is the root cause of your problems and good fortune, you will develop a greed for happiness. And so you will be motivated to change your behavior.
This reminds me of the story of “The boy who rose to be king”. Once upon a time there was a king whose wife could not bear him an heir. As he grew old, he decided to adopt a boy to succeed him. He offered all the boys of his kingdom a chance to be his adopted son.
Hundreds of families in nearby villages enlisted their sons as candidates. The King knew it was important for the boy to possess a special character. So he developed a plan to help select the right person.
He gave all the boys identical flower seeds and a 6 inch terracotta pot. The boy who grew the most beautiful roses would be the one chosen to be king. One of the boys from a very poor family saw this as an opportunity to achieve his greatest dream. His name was Ariel.
He worked very hard. He used the finest soil, added special nutrients, watered with the purest water. Nothing happened. He was distraught. Not a single petal appeared. When he visited some of the other boys in the village, all of them had pots filled with beautiful red roses. Ariel was heartbroken.
It was time for the king to select the winner. He examined the roses very carefully. The crowed gasped as he selected Ariel’s empty pot. The king then told how he had purposely given all the boys defective flower seeds. I see only one of you had the courage and integrity to tell the truth. This is the kind of character that is required to rule a great Kingdom. And so it was that Ariel became successor to the wise old king.
Spirit guided us to this special place which centuries earlier was used by ancient people as a ceremonial site. We were guided by Spirit to open the Center at this place which is now the heart of spirituality in Sedona.
