In his book, The Ten Ancient Scrolls for Success, Og Mandino tells us how we must persist to succeed. He tells us we were not delivered unto this world in defeat nor does failure course in our veins. I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep and complain for their disease is contagious. It is really important that we surround ourselves with positive uplifting people.
He also says the prizes of life are at the end of the journey. While you may encounter failure, if you don’t give up, success may be hiding behind the next bend in the road. There is an old saying, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” Small attempts repeated will complete any undertaking.
He tells us to ignore obstacles and keep our mind on the goal. Focus on the outcome instead of the problems you may encounter. You must have the night to appreciate the day. You must fail often to succeed only once. Each obstacle is merely a chance for learning.
When others cease their struggle, mine will just begin. I have done this so many times; I remember the first time I tried pottery. I came home exhausted and told my husband this s too hard. Yet I persisted and came to love the art.
Mandino also reminds us not to be complacent after yesterday’s success, for this is a great foundation for failure. You must greet the new sun with confidence that this will be the best day of your life. If you persist long enough you will win.
I will persist until I succeed and I will win.
Namaste.
